On linux

Ok so i'm settling on linux, only droped to swindows to sort out my external drive because i couldn't get it to force a mount, however one rather weird thing....

i left windows, because i'm fed up of all the crap that happens when you secure a windows etc, and the way it always dies just as you're starting to enjoy your install. Well funny enough, i'm now using 3rd party software....built for windows *faceplant*

yeap, through the joys of wine i have just grabed an unrar because i know winrar won't work under linux, and archive manager doesn't seem to like them. lol

so how about that, not only am i now on a better operating system, i can still use some tools built for the crap i just left ^^ woopie

now lets see if i can't get my mouse buttons to behave like middle buttons, and see if can't get utorrent a nice clean connection out (because this crap they buddle with ubun...it's too simple for my liking)

now that i'm trying my hardest to settle into linux, i'm finding that you don't bother doing what you do in windows. Instead of going online and looking how to install a new program you just query your download repositories from command line. If something is anywhere near a match, it picks it out, and offers you the option to install it...of course you do need to know how to use your package manager from command line, however I've found that even though the command line looks daunting to a new user, it is often a lot easier then trying to navigate around a GUI where what you're after is three levels deeper then where you expected, and five levels deeper then it needs to be.

anyways my new fav command is : "sudo apt-get"
